Over the years, Wardak has developed a body of visual, performance-oriented, cinematic and sound works. He has also created artistic installations and ephemeral structures in public space, often in collaboration with local communities. His practice is consistently grounded in research. His latest work, Ce que le ciel ne sait pas, belongs to a cycle devoted to Afghan rural societies undermined by resource extraction, the exhaustion of bodies forced into exile, and the erasure of cultural identities.
From these experiences, he constructs a narrative in motion, shaped collaboratively with choreographer Saïdo Lehlouh. Five dancers move across a striking stage structure, accompanied by an original score from the audacious Tunisian DJ and producer Deena Abdelwahed. From the tribal regions of Afghanistan to the courtyard of Vieille Charité, Wardak opens up his artistic world, shares his political trajectory, and offers far more than a performance.
